Friends are golden. One day a friend suggested we pop into a Pilates studio and see what all the fuss was about. As a lifelong yoga practitioner I was looking for an exercise that could help me develop more core strength (I wanted to hold a handstand longer than a few seconds) so I agreed. Within the moment of getting on and off the Pilates reformer I knew it was for me.
Over the next few months of doing Pilates, my handstand was not the only thing that improved! The reward of consistent practice with skillful teachers increased my strength and opened up a mind-body connection that has transformed my life. Not only do I walk taller in life due to better posture, I’ve found encouragement and confidence from practicing with long lasting Pilates friends. It’s fun to do an exercise that doesn’t hurt the body but heals it, like a good friend.
